Real-time retail consumption tracker: February 13–19, 2023
The third week of February, 2023, has seen retail consumption growth rate slowing down a little (+5.1% y-o-y vs +6.1%-9.6% y-o-y in the first two weeks), albeit it remains fairly strong compared to January (+4.9% y-o-y) and December (+3.6% y-o-y).
Non-Food Items spending has slightly improved (-2.6% y-o-y vs -4.6% the week before). Large spending categories have shown different trends similar to January: Department Stores and Marketplaces +29.9% y-o-y (+31.1% y-o-y in January); Clothing, Footwear, Accessories -19.3% y-o-y (-18.2% y-o-y in January); Household Appliances -23.9% y-o-y (-24.1% y-o-y in January). Department Stores and Marketplaces have made the main contribution (+1.7 pp) to improving statistics vs previous week, when it showed +25.8% y-o-y growth.
Services consumption has decreased after the increase in the first half of the month (+17.5% y-o-y for February 1–12).
