Between October 26 and November 1, the weakening of consumer spending accelerated to reach –10.8% y-o-y after a decline under 2% y-o-y a week before that, SberIndex analysts say.
The overall dynamics proved to be the worst since late May, including with regards to spending across non-food items (–5.0% y-o-y) and the service sector (–32.0% y-o-y).
The consumer activity index tracked by SberIndex.ru lost 2.3 points over the week to slide down to 71.3 points.
Grocery spending emerged higher than over the same stretch last year (+3.1%). The demand for medications and healthcare products stays high (+34.3% y-o-y).
